Start with the relationship that makes your joke work: a setup and punchline, two competing choices, or a surprising result. Choose the format after you have that idea.
The Memes panel separates Popular templates from Your photos layouts. A two-reaction format works for preferences; Two Buttons works for a dilemma; a classic top-and-bottom caption works with your own reaction picture. The template library shows the available formats and how many caption fields each uses.
Select a template, then open Edit captions. Replace the numbered fields with your own wording. Say the minimum needed to connect the joke to the image. Read the panels in order to check that the punchline arrives where you intend.
For a two-panel comparison, keep the labels parallel. For example, compare two activities rather than a short activity in one panel and an entire explanation in the other. Use the Drake format guide for a concrete example.
Move captions away from faces, signs and important details. Outlined text helps on mixed backgrounds. The caption-above-photo layout gives a long sentence its own clear area. Check the preview at a size close to a phone screen, where very small text becomes difficult to read.
Choose Add or replace photos in the caption panel. JPG, PNG and WebP are widely supported. The editor processes your selected image locally. Replacing a template image leaves its caption structure available, so check that the positions still suit the new picture.
Open Export and inspect the preview. PNG preserves crisp lettering; JPEG usually makes a smaller photo-heavy image; WebP works where the destination accepts it. The meme editor exports still images, not animated GIF or video memes. You do not need to sign in, and the editor adds no watermark.
Save a .collage project as an editable backup. Signed-in drafts sync to your account; guest drafts stay in this browser.
